ShanghaiRanking Consultancy publicou hoxe, 18 de novembro, a nova edición da súa particular lista global de universidades, o famoso ShanghaiRanking.
A lista, publicada por primeira vez no ano 2003 e propiedade da firma independente desde o ano 2009, considera unha serie indicadores que permiten a xerarquización das universidades a nivel mundial segundo o seu desempeño. Estes indicadores son, entre outros:
- Número de gañadores de premios Nobel e medallas Fields (equivalente ao Nobel matemático).
- Número de investigadores altamente citados segundo Clarivate.
- Número de artigos publicados en revistas de Nature e Science.
- Número de artigos indexados no Science Citation Index – Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index.
- Desempeño da universidade per capita.
Cada nova edición do Shanghai Ranking considera ao redor de 1800 universidades de todo o mundo, de entre as cales públicanse os resultados das mil mellores.
No 2025, a Universidade de Vigo conseguiu grandes resultados na área de Ciencia e Tecnoloxía dos Alimentos, ao aparecer en terceira posición a nivel europeo, en primeira posición a nivel español e sendo considerada a número 17 a nivel global, o que supón un pulo importante para o prestixio dos programas de Grao en Ciencia e Tecnoloxía dos Alimentos, Máster Universitario en Ciencia e Tecnoloxía Agroalimentaria e Ambiental e o Programa de Doutoramento en Ciencia e Tecnoloxía Agroalimentaria da Universidade de Vigo, con grande participación do noso grupo de investigación tanto no profesorado como na investigación relacionada.

University of Vigo, in the top 3 in Europe for Food Science and Technology according to the Shanghai Ranking
ShanghaiRanking Consultancy today, 18th November, published the new edition of its own global university ranking, the famous Shanghai Ranking.
The list, first published in 2003 and owned by the independent firm since 2009, considers a series of indicators that allow universities to be ranked globally according to their performance. These indicators are, among others:
- Number of Nobel Prize and Fields Medal winners (the equivalent of the mathematics Nobel Prize).
- Number of highly cited researchers according to Clarivate.
- Number of articles published in the journals Nature and Science.
- Number of articles indexed in the Science Citation Index – Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index.
- Per capita performance of the university.
Each new edition of the Shanghai Ranking considers around 1,800 universities from all over the world, from which the results for the top 1,000 are published.
In 2025, the University of Vigo achieved great results in the field of Food Science and Technology, ranking third in Europe, first in Spain and being considered 17th globally, which represents a significant boost to the prestige of the University of Vigo’s undergraduate programmes in Food Science and Technology, the Master’s in Agro-Food and Environmental Science and Technology, and the Doctoral Programme in Agro-Food Science and Technology, with significant participation from our research group in both the teaching staff and the related research.
